Last June, the first Mayne Island Opportunity Fair brought dozens together to share skills, find helpers, and connect around meaningful roles. From haying jobs to arts groups to volunteer boards, it proved that opportunity isn’t just about employment, it’s about belonging.

The Gulf Islands Food Coop board met on June 4, 2025 on Pender to meet in person and to plan it’s plan of action for the next few months. The M.I. Community Bus Society advises we need to replace the existing bus. We looked into acquiring an electric bus but it seems that their time has not yet come from a cost as well as a driving range perspective.
We applied to the Rural Transit Solutions Fund on March 4 with MIALS as a sponsor organization and we are looking into other grants as well.
